The Republic of Moldova is prepared for the 2025–2026 heating season, according to Prime Minister Dorin Recean. He highlighted that the country has secured uninterrupted natural gas supplies. "We have ensured the security of natural gas supplies," the Prime Minister stated during a meeting of the Government Commission for Coordinating Winter Preparation Measures.

According to the presented data, SA "Energocom" has purchased approximately 700 million cubic meters of gas, which accounts for over 90% of the forecasted consumption for the 2025–2026 gas year. For the cold period between October 2025 and March 2026, 96% of the required quantities have already been secured. These purchases were made based on TTF front month quotations through 54 rounds of tenders, involving companies from several European countries.

In terms of energy security, the Prime Minister called for the mobilization of authorities to complete and operationalize the Vulcănești - Chișinău power line. "We must also prepare for the possible scenario of interrupted natural gas supplies on the left bank of the Nistru. We have already established the necessary mechanisms, secured European financial assistance, and know what actions need to be taken," stated Dorin Recean.

The Material Reserves Agency reported that coal stocks have been completely replenished, and fuel oil stocks are being filled according to storage capacities. Estimates indicate that between October 2025 and April 2026, electricity consumption on the right bank is expected to reach 2.8 billion kWh, with 1.02 billion kWh covered by local sources and the remainder purchased from abroad.

"I encourage continued promotion of new investments in renewable energy production, balancing capacity, and cogeneration. I also request the participation of all stakeholders, including private electricity distributors, in a consistent program to promote energy savings," the Prime Minister added.

Additionally, the Government discussed support measures for the population, including compensation for energy bills and ongoing information campaigns to encourage the rational use of resources.
