IT jobs in Moldova: AI skills and competitive salaries on the rise

Hundreds of young tech enthusiasts gathered at the IT Career Expo in Moldova, seeking job opportunities. Dozens of companies presented their vacancies, but jobseekers appeared to have the upper hand.
The event highlighted the growing prominence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a popular and sought-after field, indicating the sector's increasing traction in the country.
Many of the available roles are open to those with little or no experience, with competitive salaries starting at 10,000 lei.
"We work in IT services and are now transitioning to AI and business automation. We aim to support young people studying at colleges and high schools, as well as older individuals, as many people in Moldova struggle to find employment," stated one representative.
"Our company is primarily focused on outsourcing and provides solutions across multiple domains. We also offer an excellent opportunity for aspiring professionals to begin their careers with us through a Java internship."
Jobseekers at the event said they were looking for competitive salaries. One young professional commented:
"I'd like to get a job. I really enjoy building websites and games."
"I come to the fair annually and have noticed a decline in the number of jobs available. However, I continue to attend in the hope of finding something better. I've heard that IT can be a very lucrative field." When asked what salary would be motivating, the individual responded: "I would say 25,000 lei."
"I came to explore the career opportunities available in the IT sector. My primary interest is in programming, particularly in an engineering role."
The event's goal is to directly connect employers with students interested in IT and their potential career paths.
"The event brings together both employers and workshops. This year, we have a new addition: an AI zone, because the IT field is shifting from the classic model we knew until now, toward integrating artificial intelligence into the work," declared Ana Chirita, Director of Strategic Projects.
"Young people can find different types of professions, as IT has many branches: from testing, programming, and management, to now including artificial intelligence," said Dumitru Chiruta, the event organiser.
Last year, over 1,200 participants visited the fair in a single day, and over 200 CVs were submitted. This marks the 15th edition of the IT Career Expo.
