Former President Nicolae Timofti calls for unity and responsibility ahead of parliamentary elections

Former Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti delivered a public message ahead of the September 28 parliamentary elections, urging citizens to support the country’s European path – “the only path that can ensure Moldova’s peace, development, and prosperity.”
“Today I speak not only as a former head of state, but also as an ordinary citizen who wishes a safe and prosperous future for our children and grandchildren. Moldova faces an important choice. We can continue our European path – a road that brings prosperity, security, rule of law, and respect – or we can miss this historic opportunity, risking isolation from the civilized world and vulnerability to dangers that have held us back for decades. Europe means real support, development, and stability, guaranteeing that Moldova can become a safe and dignified home for all its citizens,” said Nicolae Timofti.
The former president emphasized that achieving this path depends on firm, pro-European governance and called for unity and responsibility.
“On September 28, we all have a duty to Moldova’s future: to vote for PAS for a European, prosperous, and respected Moldova,” urged the former head of state.
Through this statement, Nicolae Timofti sent a clear message of support for Moldova’s European course and the responsibility of citizens at the ballot box.
On Sunday, September 28, voters in Moldova, whether in the country or abroad, are expected to cast their votes to elect the deputies of the country’s next Parliament. The ballot includes 23 electoral contenders: parties, electoral blocs, and independent candidates. The stamp will be applied as WITHDRAWN next to the “Unirea Națiunii” (BUN) Electoral Bloc after the party announced on Monday, September 22, that it is withdrawing from the race and encourages its supporters to vote for the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS).
For diaspora voting, 301 polling stations were organized, including four for postal voting, which is being used in this parliamentary election in ten countries.
