Great National Dictation Gala: 18 scored “10,” 120 scored “9” awarded

On Tuesday evening, the Ministry of Education and Research held an awards gala for the third edition of the Great National Dictation, recognizing the best Romanian language speakers. The event honored 18 participants who wrote the dictation flawlessly, achieving a grade of "10." Additionally, 120 other participants received a grade of "9."

"Year after year, we are growing in number, demonstrating that this event has become a beautiful tradition. This year, we had 18 out of 10 grades, compared to just six last year, which makes us extremely happy. Our goal for the next edition is to set an international record by exceeding 5,000 participants, inspired by similar events in France," stated a representative of the Ministry of Education and Research.

The event was supported by several partners who provided prizes for the winners. Among the partners of the Great National Dictation are a publishing house, a theater, a drinking water producer, a multifunctional complex, and a mobile phone operator.

"We enjoy coming together and being associated with the most significant events in the Republic of Moldova. This national dictation is one of them, and we are pleased to offer the excellence award, thus inspiring success and achievements,” said Sergiu Stanciu, the administrator of a partner institution for the event.

"For us, as a theater, the word means life. Through the Golden Ticket, which we are happy to offer to the winners, we invite them to discover the magic of theater, where the Romanian language truly shines," said Vitalia Grigoriu, the director of the “Luceafărul” National Theater.

The Great National Dictation took place on August 31, coinciding with Romanian Language Day. It brought together a record-breaking number of over 2,000 people in the Great National Assembly Square, along with participants from the diaspora and viewers who joined through live broadcasts. This year’s edition was held under the theme “The Romanian Language Unites Us.”

The text for the dictation was a 440-word excerpt from the works of writer Vladimir Beșleagă, chosen to showcase the richness of the Romanian language. The submissions were evaluated by a committee composed of 16 university professors and PhDs in Philology.

The Great National Dictation is an annual event organized by the Ministry of Education and Research, aimed at promoting the correct use of the Romanian language and national cultural values, and strengthening ties between communities in the Republic of Moldova and the diaspora.
