The Council of the European Union (EU) has invited the Republic of Moldova to join the Convention on the Simplification of Formalities in Trade in Goods. As a result, starting from November 1, 2025, our country will be eligible to become a party to the Convention by depositing its Instrument of Accession with the General Secretariat of the Council of the EU.

"Accession will mean faster, more transparent and more competitive trade - a win for the entire economy and a new step towards European integration," said the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova.

According to the Customs Service, this is a historic step for the entire country, confirming a strong commitment to European integration and ongoing efforts to modernize and align with European standards.

"This invitation represents a European-level recognition of the transformation that the Customs Service is undergoing. It is both a moment of pride and a responsibility, demonstrating our ability to build a modern customs system that facilitates trade in a European context. This success belongs to the Customs Service team and benefits all economic operators in the Republic of Moldova," stated Alexandru Iacub, Director of the Customs Service.

The institution also emphasized that by joining the Convention on the Simplification of Formalities in Trade in Goods, the Republic of Moldova will promote faster, more transparent, and competitive trade, thereby strengthening its position on the European economic map.
