MEPs will monitor Moldova’s elections. Maia Sandu: "Monitoring is essential to protect electoral integrity"

The will of Moldovan voters could be undermined by risks such as illegal financing of political parties, vote-buying networks, disinformation campaigns, cyberattacks, and even preparations for potential violence, says President Maia Sandu
During a meeting on Friday, September 26, with a group of Members of the European Parliament in Chișinău to monitor the September 28 parliamentary elections, President Maia Sandu said that Moldovan authorities are making coordinated efforts to counter external influence threatening the electoral process.
Maia Sandu highlighted the important role of international observation missions, stating that “careful monitoring is essential to uncover attempts at manipulation and to protect the integrity of the electoral process.”
As guarantor of sovereignty, the President reaffirmed her commitment to defending citizens’ right to a free and fair vote, emphasizing that only Moldovans should decide the country’s future.
Over 2,000 foreign and national observers, along with journalists accredited by the Central Electoral Commission, will monitor the September 28 parliamentary elections.
