Bomb alerts in Security Zone; police assure citizens are safe

On Sunday, September 28, employees from the Explosives and Technical Section of the Ministry of Internal Affairs responded to multiple locations within the Security Zone after receiving notifications of possible bomb threats via robocalls. According to the General Inspectorate of Police (IGP), specialized teams are currently verifying the information and implementing measures to ensure the safety of citizens.
“Specialized services operate according to established protocols to ensure the safety of citizens. At the same time, we encourage citizens to participate in elections, rely solely on official sources of information, and remain cautious of narratives promoted by those aiming to undermine the electoral process,” reported the IGP.
The editorial team at “Zona de Securitate” claims that bomb threats target 14 different locations, with polling stations for voters on the left bank of the Nistru being particularly affected.
“The president of the district council called me and informed me about a bomb alert, prompting us to act according to regulations, starting with the evacuation of people from the hall,” stated Alina Ciobanu, president of the Electoral Bureau in Rezina, which serves voters from the Transnistrian region, in an interview with “Zona de Securitate.”
At the polling station in Gura Bâcului, Anenii Noi district, designated for voters from the left bank of the Nistru, dozens of voters are waiting in line to cast their ballots.

The authorities are urging the public to remain calm and not be misled by misinformation, stressing that the electoral process is proceeding smoothly and safely.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has reported that false bomb alerts were received at several polling stations abroad, specifically in Brussels (Belgium), Rome and Genoa (Italy), Bucharest (Romania), Asheville (USA), and Alicante (Spain).
According to the MFA, all affected polling stations have since resumed their operations.
The Chisinau-based diplomacy stated, "The bomb threats began exactly as the authorities had previously warned would occur, as part of the Russian Federation's attempt to disrupt the electoral process in the Republic of Moldova."
The MFA also confirmed that authorities were prepared for such a scenario.
