Guitarist from Mexico, teacher in Moldova: Luis Sanchez inspires students from Ghidighici
Luis Sanchez left behind the vibrant hustle and bustle of Mexico for the tranquility of the Republic of Moldova. As a passionate guitarist and teacher, he brings the magic of music to the "Vasile Costin" School of Arts in Ghidighici. His students have the unique opportunity to learn from a master who draws inspiration from both the chords of the guitar and the beauty of their country.
He first visited the Republic of Moldova during his doctoral studies in Romania. He has been living in Chisinau for four years and commutes to Ghidighici every day. The composer did not want to stay only in the concert halls, but also to transmit his knowledge as a teacher.
"Through music I communicate with people. In my experience, I have worked with different foreigners and there was a language barrier. And through music I found a way to communicate. When I started working with people of different ages, including children, young people, teenagers, and adults, I found it quite interesting. I think I learn more from them than they do from me, that's what I discovered", says professor Angel Avila.
A total of 18 students from Ghidighici attend Luis's classes. For Mihai, he is more than a teacher - he has become a friend.
"I think he gives outstanding lessons and it is a scarce opportunity to have such a good teacher. He also connects with his students and it is like he is a friend who helps you learn".
He was received with the same warmth by his fellow instrumentalists.
"Finding a specific guitar player is very difficult in Moldova. One day, we met at the National Philharmonic, which was then known as the Philharmonic. We talked to him, and at first glance we got along very well. Was that it? A man from Mexico, who they grow up with, this is their childhood - a favorite instrument, as we say", mentioned professor Nicolae Duca.
Luis wants to make society more beautiful, and for this he says that he will continue to transmit to the world everything he knows best, wherever he is.
"No matter where I'm going to be, I think I'll keep doing this. Apart from concerts, apart from any situation. Education is one of my goals," says the guitar teacher.
140 students study at the "Vasile Costin" School of Arts in Ghidighici.
