Ukraine strikes Russia and annexed Crimea: Drone attacks hit power plant, oil facility

On the night of 5–6 October, Ukrainian forces struck multiple targets in Russia and in Russian-annexed Crimea. Russian authorities announced the temporary closure of airspace over several cities.
According to Russian media reports, explosions were heard in Dzerzhinsk, in the Nizhny Novgorod region, where an explosives plant is located. The Telegram channel Shot reported that more than ten explosions were caused by Russian air defences intercepting Ukrainian drones. Residents posted images showing flames and detonations, but local authorities have not commented on the situation. The report was first noted by DW.
In Crimea, specifically in Feodosia, Russian and Ukrainian channels reported a fire at an oil storage facility. The local platform Krymsky Veter (Crimean Wind) claimed that a military radar located between Evpatoria and Uutnoe village was also damaged.
Fire at a power plant in Bryansk region
In the Bryansk Region, residents of Klintsy received missile attack warnings, and local media reported that a thermal power plant had caught fire. Simultaneously, power outages and a lack of heating were reported in Klintsy and Starodub. Regional Governor Alexander Bogomaz only confirmed a "missile alert," making no mention of the fire, and urged residents to remain indoors.
Drone attacks were also reported in the Belgorod Region. Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov stated that approximately 40,000 people were left without power after "significant damage" to the supply network. Five people, including two minors, were injured. Mr Gladkov specified that schools and kindergartens might switch to a special operating schedule, and information would be communicated "only via parent chats to avoid provoking the enemy."
Air alerts across multiple regions
On the evening of 5 October, temporary flight restrictions were imposed at airports in Tambov, Nizhny Novgorod, Yaroslavl, Kaluga, Krasnodar, Sochi, and Gelendzhik. Furthermore, an "air danger alert" was declared in Stavropol, and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced the downing of a drone that was heading toward the capital.
