Moldova ready for winter, Minister of Energy

The government announced that the Republic of Moldova is entering the cold season with fully replenished reserves of gas, fuel oil, and coal. The Minister of Energy, Dorin Junghietu, stated that the country is well-prepared for winter, and Energocom has completed all necessary purchases for the 2025–2026 period.
"By November 1, 2025, Energocom will also complete the acquisition of the 15% of gas volumes from the storage obligation, according to the law," the minister stated before the Government meeting on Wednesday, October 8.
Regarding electricity, Energocom has the necessary contracts in place, and Moldelectrica is approximately 70% complete. Also, coal and fuel oil stocks have been fully replenished, Junghietu said.
Referring to possible changes in natural gas tariffs, Dorin Junghietu mentioned that the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) is to make an assessment in December.
"As of September 1, Energocom began supplying gas, and on October 6 the first invoices were issued. A period of adjustment and cost evaluation is needed. ANRE will comment in December on a possible tariff adjustment", the minister explained.
