Electricity compensation program extended through year-end

All citizens of the Republic of Moldova will receive electricity compensation for the first 110 kWh consumed in September and October. This measure was approved during a recent government meeting. According to Alexei Buzu, the Minister of Labor and Social Protection, the program, which was initiated in February of this year, is periodically extended based on available resources and is financially supported by the European Union.
"We periodically adopt these decisions to extend the program, which was initiated in February of this year. Depending on the identified resources, including with the support of the European Union, we continue its implementation. We are firmly committed to being with our citizens through this program until the end of the year," said Alexei Buzu.
According to the Government decision, household consumers in the Republic of Moldova will benefit from electricity compensations totaling 230 million lei for the period September 1 - October 31, 2025. The document is to be approved at the Government meeting on October 8, 2025.
As for heat compensations, the authorities are to finalize the technical details soon. Alexei Buzu emphasized that in November citizens will have to register on the compensații.gov.md platform, as we have done for the past four years. "Everyone will benefit from support depending on their level of energy vulnerability," the minister added.
As of August 1, the electricity tariff is 3.59 lei/kWh for consumers in the center and south of the country and 4 lei/kWh for those in the north.
