Mălăiești fruit grower finds success through modern irrigation
In an increasingly unpredictable climate, effective irrigation is essential for managing droughts. Igor Ivanov, a fruit grower from the village of Mălăiești in the Orhei district, has invested in modernizing the irrigation systems for his orchards and nursery. He believes that adapting to climate change starts with the intelligent management of water resources.

"We are in a nectarine plantation that is well established, entering its second year of growth. The plantation features a modern drip irrigation system, which helps us achieve high quality and productivity from the trees," says Igor Ivanov.
The farmer developed an advanced drip irrigation system connected to a pumping station and a reservoir, both built with state support. These projects also received financial backing from AIPA and rural development programs aimed at modernizing agricultural infrastructure.
"I received a subsidy covering 40% to 50% of my investment, which the state reimburses afterwards. This is significant support for producers. I have a natural reservoir from which water is pumped into an artificial reservoir located near the plantation, and from there, water is distributed throughout the plantation," explains Igor Ivanov.

The impact of irrigation is visible: where irrigation systems exist, productivity doubles, and crop quality significantly improves. Find out more success stories every Sunday, starting at 2:00 PM, on the show "Land and People" on Moldova 1 TV.
