Young people use cultural vouchers for shows, films, and books

Since the beginning of this year, over five thousand young people have benefited from the "Cultural Voucher" program. This program offers a non-refundable digital ticket valued at one thousand lei, which provides young individuals with access to concerts, theater performances, film screenings, and the purchase of books.

As soon as she turned 18, Alexandrina decided it was the perfect time to claim her cultural voucher.
"The Cultural Voucher was a gift launched by the Ministry of Culture to open up access to culture for young people and we were informed by teachers during high school and of course at the age of 18 I also benefited. I needed the mobile signature, like everyone else who wants to benefit from this gift certificate and with your ID card you go to the mobile operator in person and the process takes very little time", says student Alexandrina Corcescu.
Without thinking much, she spent the one thousand lei on books.
"I invested all 1,000 lei only in books, it was my wish. These are good books that I had wanted for a long time. The five books you see cost 994 lei, because I wanted to use them all, not waste them", explained Alexandrina.
Young people consider the program to be a helpful initiative.
"People who are entering a new stage of life should have the resources to develop better. When children are very young, they develop emotionally, when they reach the age of 18, they develop as a personality. "
"I think this voucher is quite useful, especially for the personal development of young people. I think it would be good to prove that all young people use this amount".
"We already had this voucher and bought books. It's for us to become cultural, smarter and better".
"It's a fairly large amount that every person can benefit from and everyone will spend the money on what they need".
This year, the program was modified, to attract more beneficiaries.
"Among the main changes that were made to this program are the following. The notions of an electronic cultural voucher and a private platform were included. Another authority was also included, which has a vital role - it's the Ministry of Education and Research, which obtained certain attributions regarding informing young people and supporting the Ministry of Culture in promoting the program", mentioned Diana Silivestru, interim head of the department, Ministry of Culture.

The National "Cultural Voucher" Program was launched in November 2022, following the model of some European states.
