Over 100 schools use catering services to feed students from gymnasium
More than a hundred schools in the country are required to hire catering services for their middle school students because they lack on-site canteens to prepare lunches. School directors report that the procedure is straightforward. Catering companies must adhere to guidelines set by authorities, ensuring that the meals provide a healthy and diverse diet, including fruits.

The catering company employees arrive at the school in Pelinia village, Drochia district, every morning at 10:00. They deliver snacks for the middle school students.
“We have a menu for ten days so that it doesn’t repeat itself, we have meat and meat buns, hard cheese sandwiches and different pies, we try to feed them healthy and fresh,” said the administrator of a catering company, Alexandru Sacaliuc.
For example, on the day the Moldova 1 TV team filmed at the Pelinia middle school, the students received: tea, buns and a banana each.
“We like it because it brings us everything arranged, clean. The food is fresh and delicious”;
“The food here is tasty and I like it. We are on the spot, we don’t have to go to the cafeteria. We have time and the school doesn’t smell like food,” said the students.
The gymnasium has a cafeteria, which is located in another block of the institution.
"It is very far for children to cross the street and in our institution it no longer smells of food, during the break the children no longer have to run to the store to buy something and especially unhealthy food, this is healthy and is always delivered on time, tasty", said Olesea Gopșa, a biology teacher.
Since the beginning of this school year, all gymnasium students receive a free lunch at school. Until now, only children in primary grades were fed. Thus, the number of beneficiaries has increased to 300 thousand.
