Destabilizing actions foiled in northern Moldova: law enforcement conducts raids

On Monday, October 27, law enforcement officers conducted searches at multiple locations in northern Moldova. These actions are part of a criminal investigation focused on preparing for destabilization and mass disorder within the Republic of Moldova.
The General Inspectorate of Police reports that searches are currently being conducted by personnel from the "Nord" Investigation Directorate of the National Investigation Inspectorate. This operation is in collaboration with members of the Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS) as well as police officers from the "Fulger" Special Purpose Brigade.
According to the authorities, the investigations also focus on the travel and training of individuals in guerrilla camps located in Serbia.
We recall that, on the eve of the parliamentary elections in September, over 70 people were detained following a large-scale operation carried out throughout the territory of the Republic of Moldova. Law enforcement officers conducted over 250 searches, targeting 111 people, including those in prison. The criminal case, opened in July of this year, concerned the preparation of mass disorders and destabilizations coordinated from outside the country, with the aim of disrupting the elections on September 28.
At that time, the head of the General Inspectorate of Police (IGP), Viorel Cernăuțeanu, announced that, following verifications, law enforcement officers had found that among the people targeted by the searches were also members of political parties.
The head of the IGP specified that some of the participants initially did not know the actual reason for their trip to Serbia, but were later convinced and trained to accept their role in the destabilization actions.
