Foreign minister could join new government: full Cabinet list will be announced soon

The acting Deputy Prime Minister, Mihai Popșoi, who is also the Minister of Foreign Affairs, has not ruled out joining the government led by Prime Minister-designate Alexandru Munteanu. He stated, "I do not rule out such a scenario," during an interview on the "ÎN CONTEXT" show on Moldova 1 TV on the evening of October 27.

Mihai Popșoi, elected MP on the list of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), refused to provide more details about the composition of the new Government, but expressed his hope that it will be sworn in by Parliament “by the end of this week”.

“I think it is good to offer this opportunity to the designated Prime Minister, Munteanu. In the coming days, he will make public the list of the entire Cabinet and there we will have the answers to all questions”, declared Mihai Popșoi.

Commenting on the new names in the future Cabinet of Ministers, announced by the designated Prime Minister, the acting Deputy Prime Minister wanted to specify that Valeriu Chiveri, who recently completed his mandate as Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Ukraine and was proposed for the position of Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, is one of the best ambassadors that the Republic of Moldova has.

"I am happy every time the Ministry of Foreign Affairs manages to offer among its best people to the Government, because it is not the first experience, it was Oleg Serebrian – a great ambassador. Therefore, this is a great honor for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to be able to offer such specialists, including to the Government, and a responsibility at the same time, so that they can help us abroad and inside the country when needed. Mr. Chiveri has diplomatic experience not only from Kiev, but also a rich experience behind him, he is a good negotiator, a good connoisseur of the situation in the region and we firmly believe that he will be a good Deputy Prime Minister and will carry out this portfolio with maximum responsibility", said Mihai Popșoi, on Moldova 1 TV.

In the same vein, Deputy Prime Minister Popșoi emphasized the need to invest in our diplomats in order to attract investments, necessary for the economic growth of the Republic of Moldova.

"To achieve something, we must first invest in the human capital of our diplomats, to specialize them specifically in the economic field, and that is what we want to do to capitalize on the opportunities in the countries of residence where we have diplomatic missions. And yes, we do not have them everywhere we would like, but where there is a diplomatic presence of the Republic of Moldova, we must maximize this presence, including by trying to attract investments, to promote our exports. And that is what we intend to do at a qualitatively new level, to contribute to the economic growth of the Republic of Moldova, by highlighting what our country offers from an investment perspective, as well as from the perspective of promoting our exports on European markets and not only", Popșoi said.

We recall that the designated Prime Minister, Alexandru Munteanu, announced, in the last two days, six names of the future members of the Government: Vladislav Cojuhari, proposed for the position of Minister of Justice, Emil Ceban - for the position of Minister of Health, Cristian Jardan - Minister of Culture, Valeriu Chiveri - Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Eugen Osmochescu - Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization and Andrian Gavriliță - proposed for the position of Minister of Finance.
