Chișinău Airport shifts traffic to secondary runway during maintenance

The Civil Aeronautical Authority has announced maintenance work on the main runway of "Eugen Doga" Chisinau International Airport, along with the modernization of the airport's lighting system. The work will take place from October 29 to November 12.

According to the institution, flight operations will temporarily shift to the alternative runway during these interventions.

The Civil Aeronautics Authority encourages residents living near the airport to understand and be patient with the noise generated by aircraft and other temporary inconveniences.

"These measures are essential for maintaining aviation safety standards and ensuring the continuous operation of flights under optimal conditions," the institution stated in a press release.

The main runway at Chisinau International Airport was built in 1987 and measures 3,590 meters in length and 45 meters in width. The most recent major repairs and maintenance were completed in the summer of 2023.

The secondary runway is shorter, measuring 2,383 meters, and is primarily used during maintenance work on the main runway.
