Republic of Moldova wins gold at the 2025 FIRST Global Challenge

The Republic of Moldova has won the gold medal for the fifth consecutive year at the prestigious international robotics competition for high school students, known as the FIRST Global Challenge. This year's event took place from October 28 to November 1 in Panama City, Panama. The talented young inventors from Moldova were awarded the Ustad Ahmad Lahori Award for Innovation in Engineering, which honors creativity, innovation, and excellence in robot design.

The competition, designed for students aged 15 to 18, brought together over 190 teams from around the world. Each team was tasked with designing a robot that could respond to a technical challenge inspired by current global issues.

The Gold Medal for Innovation in Engineering is awarded to teams that showcase unique designs and ingenious technological solutions. This award emphasizes the importance of combining competition with the spirit of collaboration, referred to as “Coopertiție” (cooperation in competition), according to a statement from the FIRST Global Team Moldova.

The representatives of the Republic of Moldova received an honorable mention in the "FIRST Global Innovator Award" category, which celebrates the spirit of research and the integration of new technologies. This award recognises the team's ability to leverage the "New Technology Experience," an educational platform within the competition that enables participants to engage with emerging technologies with practical applications in robotics and global innovation.
