Romania and Ukraine become the main foreign investors in Moldova Innovation Technology Park

Romania and Ukraine are now the leading foreign investors in the Moldova Innovation Technology Park (MITP), surpassing the United States, which held the top position until last year. According to data from the third quarter of 2025, Romania has 53 companies registered in the park, Ukraine has 49, and the USA has 39. This shift indicates a regional reorientation of investment interest towards the Republic of Moldova, reads a press release from MITP.
“While the United States continues to generate the highest revenues among the foreign-invested companies analyzed, the growth of Romania and Ukraine highlights the Republic of Moldova's attractiveness as a destination for technology investments. The competitive tax regime, robust digital infrastructure, and geographical proximity are transforming MITP into a thriving regional hub,” said Nadejda Hodus, financial manager of the technology park.
According to financial data, Romanian companies recorded a turnover of 285.5 million lei in the first nine months of the year and are projected to reach 380 million lei by the end of 2025. American companies remain the revenue leaders, with over 1.1 billion lei forecast for the current year, while Ukrainian companies are approaching the 190 million lei mark, nearly three times the 2023 figure.
The growth is also evident in the labor market: Romania and the U.S. maintain a steady number of employees—510 and 1,080, respectively—while Ukraine has nearly doubled its workforce, reaching over 260 specialists.
“Moldova is increasingly becoming a bridge between the Central and Eastern European markets and the global market. We are seeing more companies choose to develop here due to easy access to the European market and a pool of qualified human resources,” emphasized Marina Bzovîi, MITP administrator.
Overall, by the end of the third quarter of 2025, 326 companies from 43 countries will be operating within MITP, and the total number of park residents has surpassed 2,600—a significant increase since its founding in 2018. This growth confirms the international expansion and appeal of the special regime designed for the IT industry in the Republic of Moldova.
