Natural gas tariff could be adjusted in January 2026: Energocom to present calculations by year-end

The natural gas tariff may be revised in January of next year, according to the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE). Energocom, the state-owned company that recently became the primary supplier of gas to end consumers, will present the necessary calculations to establish the new tariffs by the end of this year.
Until December 31, Energocom will maintain the same natural gas tariffs that were previously set for Moldovagaz. After this date, the company will calculate its own costs for supplying natural gas. Experts believe there is potential for a decrease in prices for end consumers.
“Toward the end of the year, final calculations are made to determine if there are any positive or negative deviations. Based on these deviations, the companies are required to submit requests for tariff adjustments. If they fail to do so, ANRE will make adjustments on their behalf,” stated ANRE Director Eugen Carpov during a press conference.
Energocom has already announced that it has purchased the necessary volume of natural gas for the 2025–2026 cold season at a projected average price of 410 euros per thousand cubic meters, which is 100 euros less than the average price in the previous energy year, which concluded in September.
The last adjustment to natural gas tariffs occurred at the end of 2024. Currently, household consumers are charged 16 lei and 74 bani for each cubic meter of gas, including VAT.
