Fundraising launched for the Căprești nursing home destroyed by fire: how to help
The nursing home administration in the village of Căprești, Florești district, has launched a fundraising campaign to rehabilitate the building, which was partially damaged by a fire last month. The multifunctional room, where the elderly used to gather to socialize, is no longer available for use. The cost to repair the roof alone is estimated at half a million lei.
There are forty-five elderly individuals, some of whom have serious health issues, residing at the Căpreşti placement center.
A month ago, a fire broke out and destroyed the multimedia room, a space where various activities were held to help the elderly combat loneliness.
"We spend a lot of our time here. This room is very important to us because it was where we enjoyed our free time. We had different activities, and children would come in to organize concerts. Now, we have no place to gather. For instance, I have visual impairments, but I am just an ordinary person who needs communication."
"I appeal to all Moldovans to help us if they can, because this is our home."
The fire damaged the building's roof and electrical system, destroying furniture and other belongings. Repairing the roof alone would cost half a million lei, which is a significant amount for the administration of the placement center.
"We are counting on the support of kind-hearted individuals. Any donation, no matter how small, can bring us joy, hope, and solidarity. It will help us, first and foremost, to restore the roof, as it is currently raining. If we do not act quickly, everything that remains may be ruined," said Vera Crivorucica, the director of the Căpreşti asylum, during an interview with Moldova 1 TV.
"Perhaps Santa Claus will visit on Christmas Eve, allowing us to have a place to welcome carolers. We are earnestly hoping for the assistance of kind and generous people, regardless of how small their contributions may be," said social worker Livia Capbatut.
"Alinare" Philanthropic Center has opened several bank accounts for collecting donations.
