Moldovan products win over Iași at major exhibition

Moldovan wines, artisanal cheeses, bee honey, and even natural cosmetics are captivating the residents of Iași, Romania.

Fifty producers are proudly showcasing the best of Moldovan Products at the "The Republic of Moldova Presents" exhibition, where they are attracting a strong flow of buyers.

Ina Căpățînă, an entrepreneur from Ialoveni, is at the Iași Exhibition with a selection of dehydrated fruits and vegetables, alongside pastilata, a local, healthy fruit dessert. She explained her commitment to natural ingredients:

What we make is maximum without sugar, without preservatives—everything is natural. We have dehydrated sour cherries from our own orchard.

Beyond these dried goods, the vast range of Moldovan products on display includes sweets, compotes, aromatic items, and natural cosmetics.

Another producer detailed their local sourcing and impact:

We are from Drochia, in the northern part of the Republic of Moldova. We started a factory there in 2004 and have milk collection points from local farmers in the area. We also help other producers grow alongside us.

Similarly, a representative for lavender products highlighted the health focus:

We came with aromatic lavender products, starting with lavender oil and lavender water. These are all-natural products that are very beneficial for human health.

Many visitors, accustomed to the quality of Made in Moldova goods, eagerly await the fair's return to Iași each year. One loyal customer, for instance, shared:

I came with a list and have already bought something. Yes, I'm a big fan of Moldovan products, and I'm looking for May honey, which is a very good quality product, for a friend.

Another visitor simply noted the obvious quality: "They are natural products, you can see that already."

The enthusiasm for the unique offerings was palpable. One shopper, looking intently at a specific item, said:

I'm very excited about this production. I'm looking exactly at the apicultural cocktail—I'm thrilled.

The "The Republic of Moldova Presents" exhibition is organized jointly by the Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Chișinău and Iași. This year’s event holds particular historical weight, as it marks the 100th anniversary of the first general Bessarabia Exhibition, held in Chișinău on October 8, 1925.

Sergiu Harea, President of the CCI of the Republic of Moldova, underscored the strong Trade Relations Romania-Moldova:

Romania, being our main trading partner, has always opened its doors for entrepreneurs from the Republic of Moldova; they are the main investors in the Republic of Moldova, and vice-versa. We have many investors from the Republic of Moldova who are also active in Iași county.

Paul Butnaru, President of the Iași CCI, provided key figures on the Economic Partnership:

We import 96 million euros from the Republic of Moldova and export 49 million euros. The difference is represented by the quality and the desire of the residents of Iași to have, taste, and use goods produced in the Republic of Moldova.

The Iași Exhibition fair concludes on Sunday, November 9.
