NIJ head joins the ERA board

Ramona Strugariu, the Director of the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) of the Republic of Moldova, has been proposed and unanimously accepted for membership on the board of the Academy of European Law (ERA). This organization was established at the initiative of the European Parliament and brings together legal professionals from various fields.
Ramona Strugariu has taken on her role alongside representatives from the Court of Justice of the European Union, the supreme courts of European countries, the heads of Europol, the European Public Prosecutor's Office, and Eurojust, as well as lawyers from the Council of the European Union, the European Commission, various European agencies, and bars and schools of magistracy.
"This nomination is an honor for me. I am grateful for being chosen from among a multitude of excellent candidates, and I am pleased that Moldova is represented in this way," emphasized Strugariu, the director of the National Institute of Justice of the Republic of Moldova.
She also mentioned that the European Law Academy's strategy involves expanding cooperation with countries seeking to join the EU.
The Academy of European Law (in German: Europäische Rechtsakademie, hence the acronym ERA) is an international training and debate center focused on legal professionals. Established in 1992 at the initiative of the European Parliament, it has received support from all 27 EU Member States and various German regional entities. Its mission is to promote knowledge, understanding, and best practices in European law.
Last week, the ERA Governing Board met under the chairmanship of President Jean-Claude Juncker, gathering high-level representatives from across Europe to discuss the Academy's future.
ERA also hosted the European Forum of Legal Professions, organized jointly with ACA-Europe in Brussels. With 50 participants attending in person and over 300 joining online, this marked the fourth-largest annual conference to date. The program featured high-level discussions on the role of legal professions in upholding democratic values.
Additionally, the Annual EU Criminal Justice Conference is scheduled for November 20-21.
