Germany supports Moldova’s EU path with an additional €24.4 million in assistance

Germany strongly supports Moldova's European journey. The country will receive an additional €24.4 million in the form of a grant. This funding will aid in Moldova's accession to the European Union and its modernization efforts. The announcement was made by German Ambassador to Moldova, Hubert Knirsch, during a meeting with Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu.
The agreements to receive the funds will be negotiated and signed soon, according to the Government's press service.

A total of 14.4 million euros will be allocated for technical assistance to support the EU accession process, strengthen a robust and innovative economy, and improve local services.
The projects will be implemented by the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ).
Additionally, ten million euros will be designated for the project titled “Child Protection and Access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Health and Social Services for Ukrainian Refugees and Host Communities.” This initiative will be carried out by the German Development Bank (KfW) in collaboration with UNICEF.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the extra support, especially highlighting Germany’s contribution to the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund, which provides energy compensation.
During the meeting, officials discussed expanding economic cooperation, noting that Germany remains one of the Republic of Moldova's main trade partners and investors.
An upcoming event that signifies this collaboration is the Germany-Romania-Moldova Business Forum, scheduled for November 27 in Stuttgart, which will bring together business communities from the three countries.
According to 2024 data, Germany ranks as Moldova's sixth-largest trading partner. Presently, 429 companies with German capital operate in the country.
Another important topic of discussion was cooperation in education, with Germany serving as a model and partner in implementing dual education programs.
The parties also welcomed the initiative to establish a Goethe Institute liaison office in Chisinau, which will enhance cultural exchanges between the two countries.
