Odessa Triangle members pledge cooperation amid Russian aggression

States that share common values must remain united "as friends and reliable partners," Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister Olexandr Mischenko said.

Mischenko was speaking at the inaugural meeting of national coordinators for the Odessa Triangle format, held in Chișinău on November 18, where he underscored the importance of regional unity.

The meeting aimed to strengthen trilateral dialogue and advance Moldova-Ukraine-Romania cooperation in strategic areas. Participants strongly condemned the Russian Federation's war of aggression against Ukraine, highlighting the severe impact of Russian strikes on civilian infrastructure and the security of the wider Black Sea region.

Sergiu Mihov, the State Secretary of the Republic of Moldova, stressed that the Odessa Triangle is a strategic platform that significantly contributes to strengthening stability, regional security, and resilience.

"We have the common responsibility to advance concrete projects for the benefit of our citizens and our common European path," Mr. Mihov stated.

Romania's full support for the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine was reconfirmed by the State Secretary for Strategic Affairs, Ana Tinca, given the challenging security context.

"Our trilateral cooperation is producing tangible results and will continue to develop," the Romanian official added.

Mr. Mischenko underlined that exchanging experience and coordinating efforts are vital for reinforcing resilience against Russian aggression and hybrid threats.

The national coordinators agreed to continue coordination on cybersecurity, advance cross-border infrastructure projects, and intensify collaboration in support of Ukraine’s reconstruction.

The diplomatic format, which brings together the foreign ministers of the three states, was initially launched in September 2022 following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and was later formally named the Odesa Triangle. The Chișinău meeting was the first time the national coordinators have convened.
