Moldova: ANSA orders disposal of 15 tonnes of dill over pesticide contamination

The National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA) in Moldova has overseen the disposal of a 15-tonne consignment of fresh dill and parsley immediately following its importation.
The regulatory action was taken after laboratory tests flagged contamination with the highly-restricted Propiconazole pesticide. Analyses showed levels of the substance exceeding the maximum permissible limit, prompting ANSA to warn of a potential risk to human health.
"The batches of dill and parsley were seized directly from the importing operator's warehouse, preventing them from being placed on the market," an ANSA spokesperson confirmed.
In a separate enforcement action on November 19, the agency also ordered the withdrawal of a two-tonne consignment of potato starch. This product was discovered to contain the CaMV 35S promoter, a marker for a genetically modified organism (GMO).
ANSA reiterated its regulatory stance, stating: "Any consignment of agri-food products that presents risks or fails to comply with quality and labelling standards will be immediately detained and withdrawn from the commercial circuit. We require economic agents to demonstrate maximum responsibility when importing products."
