CMC accepts resignations, rejects Ceban’s new deputy mayor picks

The proposals by Chisinau Mayor Ion Ceban to appoint Olesa Psenițchi and Victor Prureanu as deputy mayors did not receive the required votes at the Chisinau Municipal Council meeting on November 21.

The candidacies were supported by the councilors of the National Alternative Movement, a party led by the mayor general. However, they were rejected by the local elected representatives of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), while the councilors of the Socialist Party (PSRM) chose to abstain from voting.

Zinaida Popa, the PAS President in the CMC, clarified that the faction's vote was not against the proposed candidates, but rather against the mayor's "attitude," as he made the nominations shortly before the meeting.

The PSRM councilors explained their abstention by stating that they did not have the opportunity to discuss the candidacies within their faction.

The mayor can resubmit his proposals at a future Council meeting.

During the same meeting, the CMC acknowledged the resignations of Olga Ursu and Angela Cutasevici, who stepped down from their positions as deputy mayors to take up their mandates as deputies in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova.

Ceban proposes two new deputy mayors to CMC

Chisinau Mayor Ion Ceban could have two new deputy mayors. These are Olesea Psenițchi and Victor Prureanu.

The appointment of two individuals as deputy mayors of Chisinau was on the agenda for the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) meeting scheduled for November 21.

According to mayor Ion Ceban, Mihai Psenițchi, who currently serves as the head of the General Directorate of Finance at the city hall, will oversee the financial sector. Meanwhile, Victor Pruteanu, a counselor in the Mayor's Office, will be responsible for the social sector.

Opposition council members pointed out that both individuals are affiliated with the National Alternative Movement, a political group led by mayor Ion Ceban.

"Olesea Psenițchi is a specialist who has consistently demonstrated efficiency in managing public finances in the municipality of Chișinău. I believe she is one of the few individuals whose professional competence cannot be questioned. Additionally, Mr. Pruteanu, besides his teaching responsibilities, is involved in various aspects, including social issues," replied Ion Ceban.

We remind you that the two deputy mayor positions became vacant after Olga Ursu and Angela Cutasevici were elected on the "Alternative" Bloc list on September 28 this year.
