Comrat lyceum adopts Mpay for transparent parental contributions

The "Nicolai Tretiacov" Theoretical Lyceum in Comrat has successfully implemented a system for collecting voluntary payments from parents through the MPay electronic system. Since the beginning of this school year, over 270,000 lei have been collected in a fast and transparent manner. A portion of these funds was used to purchase vests featuring the lyceum emblem for all students.

The parents' association of the lyceum has been organizing annual fundraisers to meet the needs of classes and student trips since 2011. They have also supported the school's administrative board by contributing to the purchase of student uniforms.

“It was an interesting idea, and I supported it because the competition among children regarding clothing had stopped. On September 1, everyone arrived in uniforms and looked great. The bank transfer payment system is more transparent. At the general meetings of parents, all these issues are discussed, and a full report is presented,” says Lubov Papadia, one of the parents.

“A decision was made, together with parents, faculty, and the lyceum administration, to raise funds for the purchase of school vests with the lyceum logo. The collection was led by the chairman of the parents' committee, and the money was transferred to the school account,” explains teacher Ludmila Nedu.

According to the lyceum administration, the MPay platform facilitated the rapid collection and allocation of funds for the purchase of uniforms.

“We have a parents’ association in which each parent contributes 200 lei per year for their child. We decided that parents would contribute this 200 lei to the association and an additional 200 lei for the school vest. Both the parents’ committee and the lyceum’s administrative council have approved this decision,” explains the director of the educational institution, Polina Pîntea.

917 students are studying at the "Nicolai Tretiacov" Theoretical Lyceum in Comrat. To date, 403 educational institutions in the Republic of Moldova have connected to the MPay platform and can benefit from transparent financial support. Thus, the authorities want to put an end to the phenomenon of informal fees in schools.
