Moldox Festival 2025: 10 Years in 10 Posters Exhibition

The Moldox Festival is marking its tenth anniversary with a retrospective exhibition titled "10 Years of Moldox in 10 Posters," hosted by the Cărturești Muzeu Bookstore in Chișinău.

The event offers the public a comprehensive look at how the festival has built its visual identity over a decade, showcasing the artwork that has defined each edition.
Each poster on display narrates the story of a specific theme, an artistic direction, a social context, and the group of creators who have contributed to Moldox’s growth year after year.
The exhibition brings together works by ten artists who have designed the festival's posters since its inaugural edition in 2016. Featured creators include Alexandru Florea, author of the 2016 poster dedicated to the themes of "Exodus, Freedom of Expression, Land," followed by Aliona Ciobanu with the 2017 edition inspired by "Corruption," and Sandul, the artist behind the 2018 edition, who tackled the theme of "Power."
The visual journey continues with Natalia Gîrbu’s 2019 work "Metamorphoses." In 2020 and 2021, Vasiluța Vasilache contributed two successive pieces dedicated to "Dialogue" and "Fragility." Aliona Ciobanu returned in 2022 with the theme "Generations," Maks Graur designed the 2023 "Freedom" poster, and in 2024, Laura Stratulat proposed a visual interpretation of "Democracy." The poster for the anniversary edition in 2025, dedicated to the theme "Chaos. Reinventing Reality," bears the signature of Anna Vasina.

**A Decade of Visual Evolution **
The evolution of these visual creations reflects the transformation of both the festival and the community surrounding it—directors, audiences, artists, and activists who view Moldox not merely as a cultural event, but as a platform for dialogue and civic engagement through documentary film. The festival’s identity has been forged in the rhythm of these changes, starting from its early editions in Cahul and expanding into a broader cultural context with its move to Chișinău.
"The Moldox poster exhibition, from the beginning to the present, marks ten years of visual identity. There have been ten editions, ten visions, and ten ways in which artists have represented the spirit of the festival. It is a journey that shows how Moldox’s artistic direction has been shaped: from the first editions in Cahul to our presence in Chișinău, within an increasingly dynamic cultural context. The posters also reflect the changes in the communities we have engaged, our concerns over the years, and the way documentary film has remained a tool for dialogue and transformation. The exhibition is an invitation to look back to better understand who we are today and where we are heading," says Maxim Cîrlan, founder of Moldox Festival.
Event Details
The exhibition is open daily from November 22 to 30, between 9:00 AM and 8:00 PM, and admission is free. In this anniversary year, the National Museum of History of Moldova and Cărturești Muzeu Bookstore have become official partners, hosting both the exhibition and a series of discussion panels. Additionally, Cărturești is unveiling a dedicated "Moldox Corner," featuring books and materials reflecting this year's theme: "Chaos. Reinventing Reality."
Moldox remains more than a film festival: it is a space for collective reflection where filmmakers, artists, activists, and citizens are invited to discuss urgent current issues and seek solutions through the power of documentary. Beyond screenings, the program includes workshops, public discussions, side events, and exhibitions.
