Moldova tourism soars 6.5%: New national agenda 'Tree of Life 2026'

Moldova's tourism sector is experiencing a period of consistent growth, a trend unequivocally confirmed by recent statistics.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) data, over 480,000 people utilized the services of travel agencies and tour operators during the first nine months of this year, marking a 6.5% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

A growing number of visitors, both domestic and foreign, are choosing to discover Moldova's natural beauty, authentic traditions, and renowned hospitality, signalling that the country is becoming an increasingly attractive destination on the regional tourism map.

To consolidate and build upon this positive evolution, the National Tourism Office and the Ministry of Culture are launching the "Pomul Vieții 2026" (Tree of Life 2026) initiative. This national cultural and tourism agenda will compile the country's most significant cultural, gastronomic, and artistic events.

The initiative’s primary goal is to promote the Republic of Moldova as an authentic and internationally competitive destination, while also actively stimulating internal tourism.

The responsible authorities are inviting event organizers to submit their planned projects for the year 2026. Those selected will benefit from extensive promotion both domestically and internationally.

For inclusion in the agenda, events must meet clear criteria: a minimum of 2,000 participants at the last edition, adequate infrastructure, a confirmed date for 2026, secured budget, active promotion, and a program published three to six months prior to the event.

The deadline for submissions is December 20, 2025.

Through this initiative, the authorities aim to leverage the cultural identity of the Republic of Moldova and support the organization of large-scale events that will have a real impact on local communities and the economy.

"Pomul Vieții 2026" promises to become a symbol of Moldova's tourism renaissance — a small country, but one full of big stories, according to the authorities.
