Semion Duja, renowned Moldovan clarinetist, died

The Musicians' Union of Moldova expressed deep sorrow upon learning of the passing of Master Semion Duja, a People's Artist and a significant figure in the musical life of the Republic of Moldova. Semion Duja was a leading personality in Moldova's clarinet community. He graduated from the "Gavriil Musicescu" State Conservatory and balanced a career as a performer with an exceptional teaching career. He began teaching at "Ștefan Neaga" College and, since 1987, has been a faculty member at the Academy of Music, Theater, and Fine Arts, where he mentored numerous clarinetists who have gone on to become soloists in professional orchestras.
Throughout his career, Master Duja collaborated with prestigious orchestras, including the "Folclor" Folk Music Orchestra, and participated in various tours both domestically and internationally, promoting authentic folk music. He also edited important teaching materials, such as collections of studies for clarinet, which have become valuable resources for young musicians.
