Over 120 dog breeds showcased at the international exhibition in Chisinau

Animal lovers can admire over 120 dog breeds from 17 countries at an international exhibition in Chisinau. The dogs, dressed up by their owners in elaborate costumes, paraded and competed in various events.

Dmitrii and Anastasia travelled to the competition from Kyiv with their dog, Charles, 90 centimetres tall.
“We love to travel to exhibitions; it’s a family hobby that we really enjoy. You know, he’s truly a member of the family,” they shared.
The appearance of the dogs is a crucial criterion at the exhibition.
“At the competition, the dog must be well-prepared, groomed according to breed standards, and behave nicely. We use powder, special fur solutions, and we wash his paws,” they explained.

The visitors were impressed by the parade of dogs.
"I came today with my family because it's the weekend, and we wanted to show the children the animals. We live in an apartment building, and, unfortunately, we can't have a pet."
"I came here to see various dog breeds. I don't have a favourite breed; I think all dogs are special in their own way."
The dogs will be evaluated by a jury from ten different countries, including Spain, Poland, and Ukraine.
"The main mission of the competition is to identify the best breeds, selecting outstanding representatives for future breeding and selection. A fundraiser for animal shelters is also being organized at the exhibition," mentioned Serghei Volîneț, president of the Cynological Union of the Republic of Moldova.

Annually, the Cynological Union of Moldova and its partners organize five international competitions.
