Poland helped Comrat State University install solar panels
Comrat State University is making significant progress towards energy independence by equipping its main building with solar panels. This installation is expected to reduce energy consumption by more than 40%. This investment positions the campus as a model of efficiency and sustainability for the entire region.
The Comrat State University building includes classrooms, multicultural centers, a library, and a cafeteria. Representatives of the university state that installing 30-kilowatt solar panels will significantly reduce maintenance costs.
"We spend about 200,000 lei annually on this building. Today, thanks to solar energy, we can save from our own budget,” said Serghei Zaharia, the rector of Comrat State University.
"This project we are inaugurating is very symbolic for Polish development assistance programs. It emphasizes everything we recognize as priorities for Polish development: education, youth, and urban development,” stated Tomas Kobzdej, the Polish ambassador to Chișinău.
In addition to promoting green energy, Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun highlighted the importance of continuing to support the Romanian and Gagauz languages in the region.
"This project is very important because it will reduce costs and help the university gradually transition to green energy. We have two major priorities: Romanian and Gagauz. We will continue to allocate funding from the state budget for their development,” said Dan Perciun.
This energy efficiency initiative is the third project undertaken by the Embassy of Poland at Comrat State University, with a total cost of approximately 45,000 euros.
Currently, 1,500 young people are enrolled at Comrat State University.
