Travel warning: MFA urges citizens to avoid Palanca border crossing point

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the Republic of Moldova has issued a travel warning for citizens planning to visit the Palanca Border Crossing Point. This warning comes in light of the worsening security situation in southern Ukraine following drone attacks in the Odessa region yesterday.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a warning based on information from the General Inspectorate of the Border Police, which reports ongoing security risks in the Moldovan-Ukrainian border area, including attacks in the area. Given these circumstances, authorities recommend that citizens avoid travelling in that direction until the situation stabilises.

This warning comes amid repeated traffic suspensions on the Maiaki–Udobnoe bridge, a crucial road link to the Odessa region. Traffic was suspended again due to damage from a drone attack in the area, leading to temporary disruptions and additional restrictions on cross-border travel.

Recent attacks in southern Ukraine have targeted critical infrastructure and transport facilities. Authorities in Chisinau emphasize that events on the ground can directly affect the safety of travel in border regions.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is continuously monitoring the situation and will provide updates to the public based on security developments in the region.
