Energocom buys electricity for the first time from a local battery-based producer.

The company "Energocom" has purchased electricity from a local producer using energy storage batteries (BESS), a modern solution aimed at enhancing the balance of the national electricity system.
According to the company, the manufacturer owns photovoltaic panels that generate electricity throughout the day. This energy is stored in batteries and then delivered to the grid during peak demand periods.
For "Energocom," this acquisition is a significant milestone, as it marks the first time that energy from storage batteries has been integrated into their portfolio of contracted sources. This solution contributes to the stability of the electricity grid, reduces demand during peak hours, and enables a more efficient use of locally produced renewable energy.
The government has extended the public service obligation for "Energocom" by one year, until January 31, 2026. This decision was approved at a meeting on December 23 and is motivated by the authorities' aim to ensure the continuity of the electricity supply in the Republic of Moldova.
The extension of the public service obligation allows "Energocom" to establish contracts with local producers, including those utilizing renewable sources. This diversification of the energy mix helps reduce reliance on imports amid a volatile market.
Carolina Novac, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, stated during the meeting that "Energocom" has the operational capacity and experience necessary to intervene promptly in regional markets, ensuring the delivery of adequate electricity volumes. The efficiency of this mechanism has been demonstrated in previous years.
