EU accession

Moldova’s path to the EU, explored with experts on Moldova 1’s “Me and the European Union”

Moldova1 TV is launching a new show titled "Me and the European Union". This editorial project will explore the steps involved in the Republic of Moldova's accession to the EU. Experts, officials, and civil servants engaged in aligning Moldova with EU standards will discuss relevant topics. The first episode will be available to watch on Wednesday, January 14, starting at 8:00 p.m.

The show will be hosted by journalist Cristina Bencheci. Its goal is to combat myths that are spread on social networks and help citizens gain a comprehensive understanding of the European Union.

"Keep an eye on us; we will bring in experts from the field, along with authorities and civil society representatives who will explain in detail the current status of the Republic of Moldova on its path to the European Union. We will strive to break down each area into clusters and chapters," stated the show's moderator, Cristina Bencheci.

The Republic of Moldova is making progress towards European Union membership. As a result, the public television station aims to clearly explain the stages of the European integration process to citizens in an accessible manner.

"The mission of the public provider is to explain in an accessible way what this means for ordinary people and citizens. We aimed to develop a new editorial product because we believe in the European project for the Republic of Moldova. We want our country's integration to progress quickly, focusing on our shared goal: a prosperous future and improved realities for our citizens," said Andrei Zapșa, the Deputy General Director of the Public Institution "Teleradio-Moldova" Company.

At the end of last year, the Republic of Moldova received approval to begin technical accession negotiations on the first three clusters, which focus on fundamental values, the internal market, and foreign policy. This step enables the European Commission to monitor the Republic of Moldova's progress. The goal of the Government and President Maia Sandu is to conclude the negotiations by 2028 and achieve actual accession by 2030.
