Moldova and the United Kingdom sign Popșoi–Cooper agreement to boost strategic cooperation

During a phone conversation with British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi focused on strengthening the Moldovan-British partnership in strategic areas and enhancing economic relations. The discussion emphasized initiatives aimed at bringing the business communities of both countries closer together.

The officials also discussed cooperation within the Council of Europe (CE) in the context of the Republic of Moldova's presidency of the Committee of Ministers, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The statement notes that Mihai Popșoi invited Yvette Cooper to participate in the Committee of Ministers session scheduled for Chișinău in May 2026.

Mihai Popșoi expressed gratitude to the United Kingdom for its close cooperation and for serving as a trusted partner to the Republic of Moldova, particularly in supporting economic development and efforts to ensure regional security.

The two officials agreed to continue their dialogue and collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
