Moldovan winter athletes depart for Milano Cortina 2026 following European Biathlon finale

Moldova’s winter sports delegation has begun its final transition to Italy for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Games, following the conclusion of the European Biathlon Championships in Norway.
The national men’s relay team, composed of Mihail Usov, Andrei Usov, Maxim Makarov, and Pavel Magazeev, secured 17th place out of 24 competing nations in the 4x7.5 km event. They completed the course with a final time of 1:23:45.
Olympic preparations conclude
The European championships served as the final competitive litmus test before the Olympic Games. Pavel Magazeev delivered the delegation's standout performance earlier in the week, finishing 21st in the 20 km individual race.
Host nation Norway claimed the European title, underlining the high level of competition faced by the eight Moldovan athletes present in the Norwegian event.
Final delegation and broadcasting
For the upcoming Winter Games, scheduled for February 6–22, Moldova will be represented by five athletes: three biathletes and two cross-country skiers.
The biathlon events are set to take place at the Antholz-Anterselva resort. National broadcasters Moldova 1 and Moldova 2 will provide live coverage of selected competitions throughout the Olympic period.
