Snowfall disrupts rail traffic: Long delays on the Chisinau - Bucharest route

Travelers planning to use the Chisinau - Bucharest train route on Wednesday, February 18, should prepare for significant delays due to severe weather conditions in Romania.
The Moldovan Railway recently announced that heavy snowfall, strong blizzards, and persistent snow cover on the railway infrastructure have been reported in Romania. These conditions, along with low temperatures, are making it difficult to maintain normal train operations.
As a result, speed restrictions have been imposed in several railway sectors, and railway teams are working to keep the routes safe and accessible.
Due to these circumstances, the arrival of trains at Bucharest Railway Station is estimated to be more than six hours late, according to the authority. However, the train is still in operation.
Additionally, the departure of the train from Bucharest to Chisinau, scheduled for this evening, may also be affected by the weather conditions and the operational status of the railway infrastructure in Romania.
Company representatives recommend that passengers stay informed about any updates to train schedules and maintain communication with the railway operator for further details.
We remind you that meteorologists have issued orange and yellow alerts for snowfall, sleet, and blizzards for February 18, which are valid for the south and center of the Republic of Moldova, respectively. A red alert for snowfall is currently in effect in Romania.
