Moldovan PM Munteanu bypasses 100-day report for parliamentary address in March

Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu has opted to bypass the traditional 100-day formal report, announcing instead a comprehensive government balance sheet for the Moldovan Parliament in late March or early April.

Speaking on TV8 on Thursday evening, Munteanu emphasized a shift in political customs. He stated that he intends to deliver "tangible results" rather than following ceremonial milestones typical of past administrations.

A business-centric approach to governance

The Prime Minister explained that his first months focused on team building and direct engagement with stakeholders. He highlighted frequent meetings with entrepreneurs, civil society, and mayors as his primary method of communication.

"I believe creating a solid team was our main task and achievement," Munteanu noted. He described his recent discussions with suburban mayors as a key source of inspiration for upcoming 2026 infrastructure projects.

Political context and mandate

The Munteanu Cabinet was inaugurated on October 31, 2025, backed by the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) majority. While the new ministers took their oaths on November 1, the opposition did not support the appointment.

Coming from a professional business background, Munteanu remains a political outsider in Moldova. His strategy appears to prioritize private-sector efficiency over the formal bureaucratic traditions of Chisinau’s political sphere.
