“Their sacrifice shaped this nation”: Border Police honored fallen heroes in Afghanistan and on the Nistru

The General Inspectorate of the Border Police organized a commemorative event to honor the heroes who lost their lives in the conflict in Afghanistan and during the Nistru war. This occasion served as a moment of gratitude for those who sacrificed their lives for the independence and sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova.

The ceremony was attended by the institution's leadership, veterans, and community members, united by respect for the memory of those who fought for the country's future.

A moment of silence and reflection took place at the "Feciorilor Patriei - Sfântă Amintire" and "Eternitate" memorial complexes, where flowers were laid as a sign of homage.

Later, at the institution's headquarters, messages of appreciation were delivered, and the veterans were awarded honorary diplomas—a symbolic gesture of gratitude for their courage and dedication.

The Head of the General Inspectorate of the Border Police, Ruslan Galușca, emphasized the importance of preserving historical memory and instilling patriotic values in the younger generation.

"We are honored to serve the Republic of Moldova and are grateful to those who have shaped the history of this country through their sacrifices," stated Ruslan Galușca.

Representatives from the institution highlighted that remembering the heroes is a cornerstone of national identity and serves as a vital lesson for future generations—a lesson about responsibility, unity, and love for the country.
