Moldovan licenses can be exchanged in France without exams from March 1

Moldovan citizens living in France can exchange their Moldovan driving license for a French one starting March 1, without taking theoretical or practical exams.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the facilitation applies to drivers who hold category B licenses for vehicles with fewer than 10 seats and a total weight of up to 3.5 tons. These licenses must have been issued by the authorities of the Republic of Moldova after January 1, 2020.
This opportunity has become a reality following France's completion of the necessary internal procedures for the Bilateral Agreement on the Mutual Exchange of Driving Licenses, which was signed by the governments of the Republic of Moldova and the French Republic.
The agreement greatly simplifies life for Moldovans in France by eliminating the costs and time associated with taking new driving exams.
It's important to note that drivers with licenses issued before this date must exchange them for national models that comply with current standards.
The mutual exchange of driving licenses agreement was signed in Paris on July 12, 2024, and the French National Assembly unanimously approved the document on January 21 of this year.
Furthermore, Moldovan authorities have announced that Moldovan driving licenses will also be recognized in Italy and the United Kingdom without the need for additional exams. The Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the Italian Republic, as well as the Memorandum of Understanding between the Republic of Moldova and the United Kingdom regarding the mutual exchange of driving licenses, has been approved by the government.
Additionally, the Republic of Moldova has established similar agreements with Latvia, Spain, Greece, Israel, Turkey, Albania, and Lithuania.
