Moldova inaugurates Honorary Consulate in Hamburg
The Republic of Moldova will open an Honorary Consulate in Hamburg, Germany. The office will be inaugurated this week during Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi's visit to Germany.
The head of Moldovan diplomacy will travel to Berlin and Hamburg from March 3 to 5 at the invitation of the German Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs, Johan Wandephul.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Moldova will help strengthen the country's presence in northern Germany and support Moldovan citizens living in the region.
During his visit, Mihai Popșoi will meet with Hamburg’s Mayor, Peter Tschentscher, as well as the leadership of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and representatives from the academic sector.
On March 5, Popșoi will meet with his German counterpart, Johan Wandephul, in Berlin, followed by a joint press conference.
He will also engage in discussions with officials from the Federal Government and members of the Bundestag, including Anton Hofreiter, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for European Affairs; Armin Laschet, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Foreign Affairs; Johannes Schraps, Chairman of the German-Moldovan Parliamentary Forum; and Gunther Sautter, Foreign and Security Policy Advisor to the Federal Chancellor.
The program includes talks at the Federal Foreign Office, meetings with representatives from Germany's economic and analytical sectors, and participation in the conference titled "EU Enlargement - Perspectives for the Republic of Moldova."
Following his visit to Germany, Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi will fly to Baku, Azerbaijan, at the invitation of his Azerbaijani counterpart, Jeyhun Bayramov.
In Baku, Popșoi will meet with the Azerbaijani Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov; the Speaker of Parliament, Sahiba Gafarova; the First Deputy Minister of Economy, Elnur Aliyev; and representatives from the energy company SOCAR.
