30 more Moldovans evacuated from Middle East, arrive in Bucharest with EU support

The situation in the Middle East remains tense. Moldovan citizens in the region are urged to remain vigilant and comply with the measures enacted by local authorities. It is also important to follow the official Facebook pages of our embassies for information on available evacuation options. Currently, dozens of Moldovans are still waiting to be evacuated from areas affected by the tensions between Israel, the United States, and Iran.
According to the latest information released by the Crisis Cell of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in Chisinau, an additional 30 citizens of the Republic of Moldova were safely evacuated from the Middle East on March 9.
These individuals arrived in Bucharest from Muscat, Oman, through the rescEU Mechanism, part of the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism.
The Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Abu Dhabi continues to provide consular support to Moldovan citizens affected by disruptions in air travel. They are in contact with local authorities and international partners to identify travel options for Moldovans still in the United Arab Emirates.
The Crisis Cell also reports that the State of Israel has extended its current restrictions until March 14, at 8:00 p.m. During this period, educational activities will not take place, and gatherings of no more than 50 people are permitted, provided there is a means of quickly moving to shelter in case an alarm is triggered.
"In light of the security situation, commercial flights continue to operate on a limited basis, depending on decisions made by the Israeli authorities and airlines,” the Chisinau diplomatic office states.

The situation in Qatar remains complex. The airspace of the State of Qatar has partially reopened, but air operations are still limited. Local authorities recommend avoiding non-essential travel and strictly following official instructions.
"The Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Doha continues to handle requests for information and consular support from Moldovan citizens in Qatar and is monitoring available transit or departure options from the region," the authorities assured.
Airports in Turkey are operating commercial flights as usual, and the country remains an important regional transit hub for citizens leaving the Middle East. Meanwhile, commercial flights to Azerbaijan continue to operate, but transit options for those leaving Iran are limited and require prior coordination with the authorities.

Since the beginning of March, a total of 145 citizens of the Republic of Moldova have been evacuated from the Middle East.
