Shahed-like drone detected over southern Moldova

On the night of March 17, an unidentified aircraft resembling a Shahed drone was spotted in southern Moldova, specifically within the jurisdiction of the Olănești Border Police Sector. According to information from the Border Police, the object was detected around 01:30, approximately 200 meters from the national border, travelling in the direction of Iaskî (Ukraine) towards Crocmaz (Republic of Moldova).
Border police officers observed and heard an unidentified aircraft resembling a Shahed drone, according to a press release from the institution.
Reports indicate that the aerial object was flying at an altitude of up to 150 meters within the Republic of Moldova's airspace in the specified area. It then moved toward the locality of Căplani.
Authorities have confirmed that they have followed all necessary legal procedures, and relevant institutions continue to monitor the area.
So far, no objects or elements posing a threat to citizens' security have been identified. The Border Police are cooperating with national institutions and international partners to ensure the surveillance and security of the state border.
This is not the first incident of this nature. On the night of March 14, another drone, also possibly a Shahed type, flew over the airspace of the Republic of Moldova without authorisation, heading toward Ukraine. It later disappeared from radar in the Cimișlia region, near the town of Troitcoe.
