Two universities from Moldova, Moldova State University and Technical University of Moldova, appear in the QS Europe 2026 ranking, but hold modest positions near the end of the list. Top institutions from the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and France continue to dominate the ranking, achieving the highest academic and research results.

The University of Oxford holds the top ten positions, ranking first with a maximum score, followed by ETH Zurich and Imperial College London. Next come University College London and the University of Cambridge. The top also includes the University of Edinburgh, King’s College London, Université PSL, University of Manchester, and EPFL. These institutions stand out for strong academic reputation, employer relations, and research impact.

In the region, Romania has a stronger presence in the ranking, with over 20 institutions included, although none reach the top 200. Among them are Babeș-Bolyai University, the University of Bucharest, and Alexandru Ioan Cuza University, considered major academic centers in the country.

The ranking also includes several universities from Ukraine, such as the Odesa National University, along with other major institutions from Kyiv and Kharkiv, placed across different levels of the hierarchy.
