Bardar attracts visitors with its colorful tulips and daffodils

Every spring, the town of Bardar transforms into a real fairy tale, attracting hundreds of visitors. The "Nuferi Bardar" farm opens its doors to the public, showcasing an impressive natural spectacle filled with color and fragrance. Spanning about half a hectare, the farm grows around 150 varieties of tulips and nearly 50 varieties of daffodils. Many visitors come to admire the stunning scenery, while others leave with bouquets of flowers, taking a piece of this vibrant display home with them.

Horticulturist Gheorghe Luchița takes great pride in his extensive collection of spring flowers, particularly tulips. He currently cultivates Triumph varieties and Darwin hybrids, which are among the most popular tulip types for gardens and ornamental plantings.

"We grow around 150 varieties of tulips and 50 varieties of daffodils. Each variety is not produced in large quantities, but people in Moldova desire a wide selection of tulips. We also have small quantities of hyacinths, violas, several types of snowdrops, and some autumn-flowering bulbs. For instance, we boast the largest autumn crocus plantation," said Gheorghe Luchița, the owner of "Nuferi Bardar."

The plantation also grows the "Dreamer" tulip variety, which was developed through hybridization and originates from the Netherlands.

"An interesting feature of this tulip is that the stem can produce several flowers—up to seven—each with many petals and a delicate color. It's an ideal choice, especially for women who love this tulip for the holidays, particularly March 8," he emphasized.

Luchița noted that tulips are now primarily grown for their bulbs, while daffodils are also available for sale.

Tulip bulbs are sold in October at about 10 lei each, with smaller bulbs priced around 100 lei per kilogram. The most sought-after garden varieties have richly petaled flowers, such as Miranda, Limuzin, Rose Dreamer, and Peony.

Regarding daffodils, individual flowers range from 1 to 3 lei. Among the most popular varieties is Acropolis, which is priced at approximately 5 lei per stem.

On weekends, the farm attracts dozens of visitors.

"This is our first time here, and we are very impressed. We're not buying anything right now, but we talked about getting bulbs in the first week of October, so we will return then."

"We might consider purchasing some daffodils, although these are the last weekends they will be available and the selection is smaller. We came to enjoy the scenery. We plan to come back in October to buy bulbs."

"We want to have a good time and take pictures. I think we will buy some flowers on our way out."

The Bardar plantation is unique in the country for its diversity and the large number of tulips that bloom here. Every year, the location attracts hundreds of tourists who come to admire the vibrant floral displays and enjoy the spring landscape.
