Chisinau schools get 8,000 first-grade applications
Nearly 8,000 applications have been submitted for first-grade enrollments in Chisinau’s public schools. Municipal authorities report the city has a total capacity of 9,620 spots for incoming first graders this academic year.
Despite the overall availability, the system is facing sharp disparities in demand. In 28 schools, demand already outstrips capacity, while one educational institution has received zero applications. Furthermore, nine other schools report application numbers significantly below their available spots.
Enrollment criteria and deadlines
During the first phase of enrollment, schools will only accept children who reside in the institution’s designated district. These children must also turn seven years old by September 1.
The initial enrollment phase will close on April 30. Authorities will publish the results on May 18. A second phase of enrollments will subsequently take place between May 19 and May 29.
