US President Donald Trump confirmed Saturday he is reviewing a new Iranian proposal to end the current conflict. However, the American leader remains skeptical, stating Tehran has yet to face adequate accountability for its historical actions.

The proposal, reportedly a 14-point plan delivered via Pakistani mediators, follows Washington’s rejection of a previous offer. "They are sending over the exact wording now," Trump told reporters before boarding Air Force One, promising a formal evaluation soon.

The price of peace

In a subsequent statement on Truth Social, Trump emphasized that any deal must reflect the gravity of Tehran's 47-year history. He suggested the current terms are unlikely to be acceptable given the lack of "sufficient cost" paid by Iran.

While Iranian outlets Tasnim and Fars linked the proposal to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, state media in Tehran has not officially confirmed the move. Previous direct talks in Islamabad collapsed after US withdrawal, leaving the current three-week truce in a fragile state.

Strait of Hormuz deadlock

The geopolitical tension remains centered on the Strait of Hormuz, a corridor for 20% of global energy. The route has been effectively paralyzed since the joint US-Israeli military operation commenced on February 28.

Washington has issued a stern warning to global shipping firms: any payment of transit fees to Iran will trigger immediate sanctions. This directive includes digital assets, swaps, and "charitable donations" used to circumvent the blockade.

Economic strangulation

The US Navy has already turned back approximately 50 vessels attempting to breach the naval blockade of Iranian ports. This enforcement is part of a strategy to isolate the regime until maritime traffic resumes without conditions.

President Trump noted the blockade is costing the Iranian economy an estimated $500M daily. These losses compound a decade of severe sanctions targeting Tehran’s nuclear program and human rights record.
