Moldova strengthens global security through UN peacekeeping missions

The National Army of Moldova is intensifying its commitment to global stability by expanding its participation in international peacekeeping operations. Beyond domestic infrastructure, the Ministry of Defense is prioritizing the advanced training of personnel to meet international standards.

Participation in these missions is strictly voluntary. Before deployment, soldiers undergo rigorous psychological, professional, and cultural training to ensure full operational readiness.

Moldovan troops are currently serving in UN-led missions in South Sudan, the Central African Republic, and Kosovo. Furthermore, the third contingent from the UN mission in Lebanon successfully concluded its rotation in April.

The military actively promotes gender equality within its ranks. Female officers serve in all structures, with the Ministry of Defense providing full institutional support to ensure their professional advancement in peacekeeping roles.

Security expert Pavel Horea of WatchDog.MD notes that these contributions are vital for strengthening Moldova’s foreign relations. Engaging in theaters of operations alongside EU and NATO partners enhances the country's international profile, fostering bilateral cooperation on critical security and defense funding programs.
